"Contagious? Yes I suppose it is." Rasha grinned. He had never made it with the ladies on his planet, so when he came to Earth and found himself the object of much female attention he was surprised and did not quite know how to handle himself... at least for the first little while. Now, however, he entirely enjoyed it. He had never had a mate that went into heat like Xara had, so he had never experienced the influence--the spell-- that it put over the opposite mate.
"Let me ask you something," Candy said suddenly.
"Of course," Rasha replied, "Ask me anything. I'm all ears."
"Xara told me once that things like burns and scars are considered attractive on your planet. What about severed limbs? On Earth it's very different. If you're obviously missing a limb, you're usually avoided, or stared at."
Rasha's eyes followed Candy's hands to her pant leg and watched as she rolled them up for him to see. He placed his wine glass gently on the coffee table and leaned forward to study Candy's prothesis, reaching out with a gentle, hesitant hand to touch the plastic limb; his eyes were round and bright with wonderment.
"I'm glad, if that's the case." Candy's words brought his attention snapping back up to her, "For some reason I'm starting to feel as though your opinion is beginning to matter allot to me."
Rasha pulled away and leaned back into the sofa, grinning, "I think that your leg is very cool. I...suspect that this is not the only prosthetic you have? It is okay," he hurried to assure her, "you are my friend whether or not you still have all the parts you were born with. It is just that this is a part of you and your life, and so it interests me, and I would like to know as much as I can about you. You are a very important person to my family, but you are also my friend. Ah..." he scratched his head awkwardly, "I am not trying to make a big deal out of this, see, I just want you to know that your leg or whatever else you wish me not to know about because the Earth borns find it wrongly repulsive does not change my view of you. You will always be my friend, first and foremost." his ears drooped slightly and he took another sip from his wine. He had totally botched this, hadn't he? Oh she probably hated him. "How...long...?" he asked gently. "It's just...you use it very, very well. It must have taken a very long time to learn! And I be you are very strong on that leg now. Is it light?" he asked, "Hm. I also like that you have a blue one. I like the colour blue..."
Shut up Rasha; shut up, shut up, shut up...!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"She. Did. What?"
Xara could barely see straight. Gone were the happy, fuzzy remnants of her evening with Dylan. The girlish flush that had rosed her cheek bones vanished and was replaced by a pale, colourless mask. Her hands knotted into fists, her eyes narrowed, her ears flattened themselves against her skull and she curled her lip into a snarl as the fur on her tail puffed out to give her a larger appearance. Xara was ready to fight, and she would fight to kill.
Azure's story barely made sense at first. All Xara knew was that the baby snoozing happily in her living room had been tested on and tortured by some evil scientist, like the ones at the facility. Memories flooded back to her that made her simultaneously want to fall to her knees and sob, and kill something; Citole seemed like a good enough target. How could her voethe be so calm in a time like this, when her very own daughter had been tested on and stabbed with needles so some doctor woman could get her kicks? Xara felt like shaking her! Tara seemed tense and stressed and angry as well, but she channeled that into a hyper-protectiveness over young Carmen. Xara had enough self restraint to keep from going into a full-on rampage, as difficult as it was to keep from doing so, and she managed to follow Azure's explaination to the very end. "...she really seems to want to do a heel face turn, guys. Whatever's going on, I really think that Delilah wants to help us."
Xara snarled, "That woman deserves to die." she said simply. "She brought these people to us! We let her into our lives and she betrayed us. Does she think that telling us, after the fact, what is going on is going to save her?"
Tara looked thunderous, "No shit." she muttered, "But we could use her to our advantage. She knows a lot about the facility and maybe she could be helpful. As much as it grinds my balls to say it, I think Azure is right about her wanting help us. You can't make that shit up, even the best actors couldn't make that shit up. Besides, I read her mind, so I have a firsthand account--she wasn't bullshitting us."
Xara snorted and her shoulders drooped. Her anger subsided--slightly-- and she began to pace, releasing pent up nervous energy. Tara continued,
"Look we can't just go killing random people, okay? As much as we'd like to--fuck, as much as I want to-- we can't. If we're going to have a fighting chance against these people we cannot be the murderers. It took Azure a really long time to convince me of that, because I almost had human for supper tonight." she grimaced and held Carmen, who was now snoring very slightly, closer to her breast. "They'd have all of us behind bars in no time flat."
Xara sighed, "True." she said, "Well... Dylan, maybe you can look over her? I would link to her if she was older, but babies of my species can barely handle that, let alone others. Otherwise I would. Do you think your father knew, Tara?"
Tara's jaw tightened. "I do not know." she said tersely.
Xara nodded slowly, "I pray he didn't."
Tara nodded tightly. It was obvious she was beating herself up severerly over this. Xara placed her hand on Tara's shoulder in a comforting gesture, "It is not your fault."
"It is my fault. You two warned me... I didn't listen. I should have listened..." Tara buried her face in her hands and for the second time in her life, Xara witnessed Tara openly weep. "And now...Carmen...I... god!"
"Shh. I know, I felt the same when Sasha was taken by the Facility. You must remember that you did all you could do, all that you knew how to do, and to the best of your ability. You did nothing wrong here, Tara. The only one who is in the wrong is Citole. It is okay to be angry, and you cannot stop being upset with yourself, but do not let it rule you like I did. You and Azure are some of the best parents I have ever known, and I have no doubt Carmen is in good hands with you. We will figure this out, and we will fix this. I promise."
Tara sniffed and looked up to Xara, "O-okay..."
Xara nodded, and Tara returned the nod, shaky and wet from crying. Xara turned back to Azure, "Voethe, same for you. We will figure this out." she nodded, "What do you think we should do? As long as you are sure that killing is not an option..." it still should have been an option. At least, Xara thought so and, in her mind, it still was.

Candy felt unexplainably shy around Rasha. It confused her somewhat, but she enjoyed it as well. She liked how nervous he made her, regardless of the fact that it unsettled her mildly. Had she ever crushed on a boy like this before? Not that she could recall anyway. She was enjoying it, despite the uncertainty of not knowing whether or not Rasha was feeling the same way. She doubted it, but despite that feeling of mild dissapointment at the thought, she didn't want to admit to anything. She didn't want to change anything.
She chuckled as he told her that he was all ears, glancing at the large furry set on either side of his face, wandering if they were as soft as they looked. Her face fell serious once again, however, as Rasha leant towards her. She held her breath, heart rate picking up as she was unsure of what was about to happen next. What was he doing?
Candy exhaled a slow breath, watching Rasha cautiously as he reached for the prosthesis, his fingers gently tracing along the plastic. She had to say more, telling him that she was glad if it was the case, and finally admitted to him that she was starting to feel as though his opinion was beginning to matter allot to her.
He thought that her leg was cool? Well, that was certainly a first. He was right about it not being the only prosthesis, but how on Earth he figured that she was unsure. Maybe Xara or Sasha said something?
Her heart warmed as Rasha went on to say that he thought of her as a friend no matter if she still had all the parts she was born with or not. It was a part of her life, she knew this. But what really surprised her, was his words, 'I would like to know as much as I can about you.' No one had ever been so kind. Not since Xara offered her a room in her home. Even then, the alien woman intimidated her.
"You like it?" Candy asked, her voice almost skeptical. Her head buzzing from the wine, Candy placed her cup down upon the table beside them and in an uncharacteristic act, one she was sure she'd have never done if she was not drinking, Candy placed both of her hands on either one of Rasha's shoulders, and kissed him! Kissed him full on the lips. But as suddenly as she was upon him, In an instant she was off him, her eyes wide with shock and horror. Both at herself.
"Oh. My. God! I am so, so sorry! I don't know what came over me." Candy flushed, jumping to her feet as though she had just been burnt, and took a few steps backwards. "It's just the wine, and you're just so sweet! And you're hot, and unique! And you like the color blue!" She shook her head, shutting her eyes tight. "Maybe I should go..."
Dylan stood completely still, his expression that of shock, and horror at what the girls had to tell them. He wasn't completely sure how to react. Xara was furious! Of course Dylan was too, but a few other emotions fought for dominance as well, trying to break through his poor attempt at trying to keep calm.
He felt completely responsible. He had let Citole into their lives. He had trusted her proffessionally, and this is what happened. What a shitty judge of character! Who knew what else the woman had done to little Carmen, or the others. Who knows what she'd had in store for them.
Carmen looked fine for now, slumbering peacefully in Tara's arms. She wore no obvious marks of any sort which Citole may have given her. And Dylan felt completely responsible. It was his fault.
Delilah though. It was a similar situation. What if Azure was wrong about her? Sure Delilah had come clean about Citole's plans, but did that really mean that the woman was really prepared to do a heel face turn, as Azure put it? She was first and formost, a scientist for that damn facility too. Perhaos the issue here was Dylan being too trusting? That may need to change.
Tara had a point too. It could be used to their advantage. Delilah had allot of knowledge about the facility. Knowledge that could really benefit them. With Delilah, perhaps they stood a better chance. Plus, with Tara reading her mind, there was little doubt left of the truthfulness of what the other scientist was saying.
He almost did not hear Xara ask him to look at the infant. "Pardon? Oh. Ah, yes." He walked forwards, arms out to gently take the baby from Tara. She grizzled slightly as the warmth was taken from her, but as Dylan tucked her close to his own chest, she settled once more. Azure watched him with a small smile which didn't quite reach her eyes. He glanced away, muttering soothing words as he walked towards his study, where he could find a spare stethoscope, and a medium sized medical kit.
He could hear them even from the study as he searched for what he wanted. Tara blamed herself. It wasn't right. This was his own doing. He had placed trust in Citole, and this is how things turned out.
After collecting the things he needed, he made his way back to the other women. Azure had her arms around Tara, holding her close and muttering into her hair.
"It's me who should be apologizing." He told them. "I let Citole into our lives an this is what happens. And now I uh, don't quite know what we can do, even with Delilah. I am so sorry, girls." He said with complete sincerity. "I'm afraid that with Citole, after all she being a uh, a scientist, if she is like any of the others I've known - and I am betting she is - she'll be uncontrollable. Scientists are preocupied with acomplishment. So they are focused on whether they can do something. They never stop to think about whether they should do something. They uh, conveniently define such considerations as pointless. If they don't do it, someone else will. Discovery, they believe, is inevitable. So they just try and do it first. That is the game in science. Even pure scientific discovery is an aggressive, penetrative act. The scientists want it that way. They have to stick their instruments in. They have to leave their mark. They uh, cannot just watch, or appreciate. They appreciate for nothing. They can't fit in to natural order. They need to make something unnatural happen." He continued, "I suspect that Citole is dabbling in biotechnology. Most scientists do at one stage or another. It explains why she is collecting DNA on little Carmen, and probably each of us. Xara," he looked at her while Carmen snoozed. "Do we know where everyone else is? They should be warned as soon as possible."

Rasha was shocked. Wouldn't you be? A pretty girl jumps into your lap and kisses you, and you wouldn't be surprised? Well aren't we a little full of ourselves, "oh pretty girls can't get enough of me, I get this all the time"--- dude, blow-up girls don't count, alright? If she comes with assembly required, it's not a real date; I'm just saying. Rasha, on the other hand... now he had a real pickle on his plate. Also in his pants. He couldn't exactly help that, it was a natural reaction, but he was no less mortified it had happened in the first place and for some reason he felt like a bad guy because of it. It was a fleeting kiss, but it had peeled his eyes wide open about his feelings for Candy. When she jumped off of him he jumped up as well.
"What? No! Don't go... it-it's really okay, I'm not complaining, that was nice! Besides it's late, you're drunk... it would be dangerous. If you wanted to go home let me at least walk you okay? But don't go please? I'm sorry." He blushed, "Um. I just am a little surprised is all I haven't really ever had a girl be interested in me... lots of guys, but I'm not really into guys... maybe Edison once. But that was just... that's neither here nor there, look, I'm not... ah... for Earth maybe I just....well I don't know how to tell if someone is 'interested' in me or not, I always think I can, but then I'm way--way-- off! I didn't want to offend you by doing something wrong... like mentioning it, or something because apparently talking about it isn't okay sometimes? I don't know! I do like you, I like you a lot, I just... am not really...wasn't prepared for... something more. Not that I don't want anything more... I... oh, Gods, I'm making a big mess of this. Look at me, rambling on again." he grinned nervously, "Candy even though it is a surprise to me, I would never be upset with you for kissing me. I am very much okay with that. I do not understand what the negativeness in kissing is here on Earth, but on my planet I 'make out' with people I don't even really feel that attracted to sometimes. It's more a communication or a...um... a social thing than sexual, depending on how you go about it. 'Friends with benefits' is a big thing on my planet, but once you decide to 'marry' you only do that with one person and that is...well a whole other ballgame. It is hard to explain and I can explain it one day if you want but I was never into 'cheating' I only had one 'mate' at a time. So...um... don't worry? Wait, does this mean we are..." he was blushing madly again, "um...dating?"
He grinned and picked up his tail, grinning like a little school girl. "I would like that." His ears perked and he frowned as the phone in his pocket buzzed. His frown became even deeper when the caller ID flashed "Xara" and he looked up at Candy with a baffled expression. "It's Xara... I thought she and Dylan would be busy. The mating ritual is a very important one, not usually disturbed unless something is wrong..." he pressed the answer button and put the phone to his ear, "Hello?" "Rasha? It's Xara. Is Candy with you? You need to meet us at the club."
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Xara frowned. "Dylan, it is in no way your fault. It is in no way Tara's fault, Azure's fault, my fault... it is no ones fault except for Citole's. Even Delilah is trying to help. If Citole is like you say she is--and I agree, I think she might be-- then Delilah probably has had little say in anything."
"She seemed pretty fucked up about it." Tara admitted grudgingly, "And so she should. But she seems pretty scared for us. Not for herself so much, though she must be."
"Although I would very much like for her to pay for what she has let happen to Carmen, I have to say..." Xara sighed and a haunted look came over her. She crossed her arms over her chest and seemed to shrink for a moment, "I wouldn't wish it even on Citole."
There then fell a cool silence. Tara leaned into Azure, knowing her fiancee had been through similarly tragic, harmful experiences, and shut her eyes against another uncharacteristic tear roll down her cheek.
Carmen made a little whimper. Xara's ears perked, and Tara quickly opened her eyes, then grinned.
"Is she okay?" Xara asked worriedly, as Tara gathered the baby from Dylan. Wordlessly she took her baby and sat her on her knee, then gently pat her back until the little miniature human-being opened her toothless mouth and unleashed a burp louder than even Tara had expected. Tara laughed,
"Yeah she's fine!" She wrapped Carmen up in her arms and rocked her gently, "It was just gas. My gassy lil' girl... going to be a trucker when she grows up. She can belch with the best of 'em. My uncle was a trucker. Died in a lawnmower-race... he was kind of a redneck. Redneck accidents, though kind of amusing, are also often very tragic. Poor uncle Ted...but he did win first place. I've still got the medal in my memory album!"
Xara blinked. "Alrighty then." she turned to Dylan, "Shall I call around? Azure, we'll all meet at the club if you and Tara want to head out early and open up the safe-house...?" ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Tara drove to the club, giving Azure a bit of a break. They drove in silence for the most part, the kind of silence only a tragedy could evoke; stunned. She parked in the driveway to the club as if in a dream and put the vehicle's breaks on, then opened the doors to the safe-house's secret entrance as Azure tended to Carmen. The lights were on. Tara froze. She did not remember having the lights on...
"Hello?" "Lily?" "Tara...hi!" "What are you doing... is that...is that Delilah? Delilah what are you doing?" "Hey luv, I don't know what's going on... she... she got into my potions and now, well... she's kind of developed a nasty libido." Tara's eyes were round and she couldn't help but stare. "So you're taking advantage of it?" "It's consensual!" Lily protested, "Look...we're both lonely okay?" "Is she okay?" "Yeah she kinda passed out..." Tara cocked an eyebrow, "Huh. I didn't think you had it in you. Nice going!" Lily blushed. "I'll go get dressed." she said.
"Yeah good idea, we're kind of going to have a meeting here in about five seconds. Maybe get some clothes on Delilah too, this is kind of undignified... Hows the apartment hunt going by the way?" God, today was just one big "can't unsee" moment for Tara wasn't it? As if she wasn't already traumatized by the fact her daughter was being tested on by her father's crazy girlfriend, she had seen not one, but four of her friends "doing it"... or at least naked. It was just way too much sharing for her liking. Lily hastily pulled on her clothes, blushing.
"Yeah Delilah came here in a big fit, she was drunk as all hell and well... I couldn't just leave her out there! She was getting leered at and I thought some assholes were going to try something so I picked her up and took her inside and I had my back turned for one moment and, well...she had gotten into my potions and before I knew it I was having possibly the second best sex I'd ever had... I'm not complaining, but it was kind of a shock. Apparently things aren't going well with her and Quam."
"Apparently." Tara pursed her lips and helped Lily dress Delilah, who was snoring and drooling and looking rather unsexy with her mouth hanging open. She looked as if she had just passed out from a long night's drinking...oh wait. Tara rolled her eyes and quickly helped Lily dress the woman. Why was she doing this? This nice thing for a woman who had given her the worst news of her life? Tara had no idea. Delilah did look so lonely and lost. Tara could relate to that, totally. She had once been lost and lonely, and she knew all she wanted was a little compassion. If Tara were to discriminate against Delilah because she was a human, that made her no better than the people who discriminated against her for being a vampire. Tara and Lily pulled Delilah's legs through a pair of track pants. As they slipped the waist band over her rump, the woman farted on them. Tara face-palmed. "Charming." she muttered. Lily, on the other hand, was hanging off the door frame, clutching her side with laughter.
"Fucking priceless!"
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
People were arriving as fast as they could. Sasha and Viph had not been contacted yet. Xara had tried, but they were unreachable in their location. She took this as a good thing. "I am worried she might go into a rage," Xara explained, "Sasha has been unstable these days. She is angry, the type of anger that drove me when Sasha was taken. This may set her off... her hustrian powers are making her a little unpredictable. Edison has done a good job of helping her control them, but there is still much work to be done. Best to leave her with her voethe, she needs it. It is good for her."
Tara nodded solemnly, cuddling Carmen close to her breast. "Yeah, poor lil' kitten." she said, "That kid needs some real relaxation time." she paused for a moment, then grinned and shook her head. "D'you hear that Azure? I'm sounding more like you every day. Starting to lose my Canadian accent..."
Rasha nodded as well. Delilah snored in the corner, clinging to Lily, who looked rather sheepish. Xara sighed, "Anyway. Azure...would you like to begin? You have the more information. Aside from Delilah... but she is not with us at the moment. Consciously, anyway." Delilah snorted and rolled over, groaning. Lily rubbed her back awkwardly-- Delilah would wake sore and with a fever from the potion, but would likely not remember much.
Xara rolled her eyes and looked back to Azure expectantly. "Would you like to tell use what's happened?"

Candy had no idea what she had been thinking! She hadn't been thinking. The wine she had consumed had begun to make her feel light-headed, as well as given her a decent enough dose of liquid confidence to make her confident enough to actually lean over and kiss Rasha, much to her current horror. She'd made her move. Candy had told Rasha, without words just how she felt about him, and now she was freaking out. Now it was Rasha's turn, and she was petrified of how he would respond.
Just like that, Candy had moved forward, and before she knew it, she was kissing him. The feel of his soft, full lips on her own almost made her swoon. For a brief moment, all Candy wanted was nothing more then for Rasha to wrap his arms round her waist, and kiss her back. But then she had realised what she was doing, and she sharply away from him, her eyes filling with terror and confusion.
She was afraid she had not read the situation right, that she had completely disrespected Rasha's personal boundaries, and had ruined even a chance at a friendship if her cruel gut was right in it and her mind's assumption that everything was about to go to shit. Mistake, was a word which hung in her mind, taunting her.
But then - to her shock, and elation - Rasha began to ramble, as she had learnt he was fairly good at. But still, she was unsure as to whether she was hearing him right. This was a moment she'd dreamt about for so long, and now it was here she was just... paralysed.
The idea of Rasha not having girls interested in him made her sceptical. Of course he must have! He would have just been unaware, surely. There was no way he hasn't had women chasing after him surely. Hadn't Candy made it obvious enough? Perhaps Rasha really had been oblivious.
Was he prepared for something more? Or even really that willing? From the way he was rambling, he was giving the impression. Or perhaps she was reading the signs wrong... but his words were clear. He said it, he would never be upset with her for kissing him. Candy stood in front of Rasha, her eyes large, looking outwardly calm, but her insides were in turmoil.
And Rasha was blushing! Candy goggled at him. Was he for real? "So...um... don't worry? Wait, does this mean we are... um...dating?"
What was she going to say? Not no! But should she say yes? Feeling more sober then she had a few moments ago, Candy's mind felt clearer, her thoughts more lucid. And yet she knew that there was only one answer. "Yes," she murmured, almost inaudibly. "If that's sure it's what you want?" she added, almost tentatively.
And he said yes. He would like that. Candy grinned broadly but it faded slightly as Rasha's faltered, and he frowned at his pocket as it began to buzz. "Xara," he muttered, and Candy scrunched her nose slightly as he went on to explain that he has assumed she and Dylan would be busy, and that the mating ritual they'd presumed they were carrying out was a very important one, not usually disturbed unless something is wrong. "Need to know basis, there, Rasha," she smirked at him, but quietened as he answered the call...
Dylan did not believe what he was hearing. At least the part concerning himself, and it not being his fault. True it was also Citole's fault, seeing as it was her doing after all. Delilah also played her part, but at least she was attempting to rectify the wrongs she had done to them, particularly Carmen.
Perhaps, as he assumed Xara was hinting at, Delilah did have little say in anything that was happening. "But why have anything to do with it in the first place?" he asked, before Tara commented that she had "seemed pretty fucked up about it", even scared for them. For good reason as well. Who knew the danger they were in, or even worse what Delilah may have potentially put them in too.
Dylan jiggled Carmen slightly in his arms, feeling a strong surge of protectiveness over the small infant. If Citole had done anything to her... well, he did not want to think about what would happen. But for Xara to say that although she wanted Citole to pay for the wrongs she had committed, what she would have in store was something she wouldn't wish it even on the woman. Dylan could not agree.
He watched as Tara leaned into Azure, seeking comfort from her fiance. Automatically, Azure wrapped an arm securely around Tara's waist, and kissed the top of her head in a comforting jesture. Dylan's heart went out to the couple already, but as a small tear rolled down the side of one of Tara's cheeks, he felt his heart swell.
Then Carmen chose that moment to utter a grizzle, alerting the other women, but with varied reactions; Xara looked slightly alarmed, Azure looked curious, and Tara wore one of those expressions that only a mother wore when she knew what her child needed.
She was fine. Dylan handed Carmen to her mother, his arms left feeling a little empty as she small weight was taken from him. He watched as Tara walked her a short distance to the kitchen table, set the infant on her knee, and gave her back a few gentle but firm pats until Carmen let out a loud belch. Dylan laughed, left feeling a little foolish, but amused all the same.
The small insight into a portion of Tara's past interested Dylan, listening to her tell of an uncle who died in some kind of lawnmover race. Rather bizzare, though as she said, Redneck accidents, though kind of amusing, were also often tragic. Strange, Tara did not have any American drawl like her uncle may have had. To think that some people decided that racing on lawnmowers was deemed an actual event was beyond Dylan as well.
Xara's reaction of "Alrighty then." suited his own reaction to a T. It was after that she decided to announce she would call around, and suggest they all meet at the club, where the safehouse was hidden.
"I'll help with the calls," Dylan offered, fishing a mobile from his pocket and began to dial a number.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hadrian looked disheveled, and sullen as he sat, leaning back on one of the chairs by the long wooden table, his arms crossed over one another, and his legs kicked out lazily on the table itself.
Needless to say, the sullen mood was a result of lack of sleep. And he had a certain litte alien/demon hybrid to thank for that. At times, both Sage and Hadrian wondered if Sirius slept at all. Just the night before they had woken at some ungodly hour to the sound of the television being turned on and played at full volume. What made it worse was it was a music channel, and they had guests staying. One in particular wasn't a morning person at all either.
Ruby, Rosemary and Barty had decided to pay a surprise visit, and were currently babysitting while Hadrian and Sage attended the meeting they'd been called out to so urgently. Rosemary had been in cahoots with Sirius on the whole "wake everybody" operation. They had also decided to wake up before everyone else a few hours later, and completely smear one of Rosemary's dolls with lipgloss. When asked who the culprit was, they each blamed one another.
Hadrian thought he had a fairly decent grasp on things such as body language, and smelling a liar, but with kids it was often difficult. They were so good at it! The only clue Hadrian had as to who he was almost certain the culprit was, was the fact that Sirius had lipgloss all over his mouth and chin. But then again, Rosemary might have done that too. But if she had, she'd have smeared it all over herself too.
Hadrian found himself learning more and more about parenting as Sirius grew from a helpless infant, into a bright, bubbly young boy each day. He was nothing like what Hadrian was at his age. He'd been... how to put this mildly... a trouble maker? Or at least he'd had a nasty habit of getting himself into trouble, anyways. Not much had changed since then.
Hadrian didn't talk about his biological family very often. That life was a very long time ago. He had a new life now, and it was one he had settled into very smoothly. Barty and Ruby had practically adopted him into their family from the very beginning, he had friends, and a small family, all of whom he loved very dearly. Even Edison.
Being a parent was certainly hard work, but it was well worth it. It was like having a pet, but an even bigger life-long commitment. They needed taking care of, petting and molly-coddling. As Ruby had said to him a few times, "the cure for everything is sitting up with Mummy and getting a back-rub."
Sirius was Ruby's "favorite little sweet tooth". In her eyes, butter wouldn't melt in his mouth. She often gushed that he looked so much like Sage too, though he did share his fathers eyes and digits. Of course Hadrian agreed Sirius was cutest when he was asleep, as children generally were "because it prohibits them from causing trouble".
Some of the most valuable lessons Hadrian had learnt about parenting was first of all, you're going to need to be able to drop everything at a moment's notice. Children need immediate attention.
You have to make time for children. Eventually they'll learn a bit of patience, but they need to know that in your list of priorities, they rank high. They need a good-sized leash. They need to know that you mean what you say. If you're going to make threats about privileges, you better be willing to follow through. If they ever figure out that you're bluffing, you're finished, they'll never listen to you again. And you need to know when to let go and give them free reign of it.
You're also going to be tired, and frustrated, and torn up over little things, pretty much all the time. Just don't forget that sometimes you need taking care of, too.
Hadrian wasn't sure how he'd fare as a father as Sirius grew older and the possibility of having another child became more of a reality. He had learnt from Ruby and Barty how he pictured parenting should be like, and it was in thanks to them - and daily experience - that he had learned as much as he had from it.
Children were the main reason each of them had been summoned. There had been trouble between Citole and Tara, including little Carmen. Unsurprisingly, Xara and Dylan were involved as well. As Azure had just finished explaining to them, in a nut shell, Citole had been experimenting on the infant in secrecy.
It made Hadrian's blood boil to a point where he practically wore a scowl. How had they not found out about this sooner? To think that the enemy had liturally been right there in front of their noses, living so close by, and had actually been entrusted to care for their children. Particularly little Carmen as she grew from inside of Tara's womb, and continued to grow daily.
It had been Dylan who had introduced her into their lives in the first place. Although he could not be to blame, she would have already found out a way to insert herself into their little group anyway. She had found a way, through Tara's father Erik Chan, who incidently, Hadrian had grown rather fond of.
From what Azure had explained, Citole had been carrying out blood tests and collecting DNA samples of things such as hair from Carmen. The infant obviously interested the devil-woman for the fact that she was a hybrid mix of two vampiress'. Of course Tara had been a shapeshifter before her transformation, and Azure had recieved numerous brain surgeries in the past, so the outcome of Carmen's species was still a bit of a mystery. As far as they knew anyway. Who knew, that knowledge may have already been revealed to the Government itself.
Working himself into a rare stream of consciousness, Hadrian decided to speak first. "Well, as much as I'm sure we'd all like to drop everything and give this woman what she deserves, I think we can all agree that the children are going to need most of our attention right now. Carmen, Sirius... even Sash' and Candy too. They went after Sasha once, they could try it again. Candy would be considered a likely target too since they're so close. If any of them are in trouble we're all going to need to be able to drop everything at a moment's notice."
He looked at each of them. "I say for now, we can only trust each other. No more," he glanced at Dylan, who looked at him with an expression of chagrin, "outside influence. Even Delilah is a risk. Regardless of the fact she says she wants to help. So she's the one who warned you over Citole. Can we be sure that's not another plan of attack?"

"It isn't another plan of attack, I assure you. Though, I understand that my assurance isn't exactly...assuring?" Delilah rubbed her head with a slight groan, "Can we dim the lights a little? My head is pounding." Xara frowned. "The lights do not dim. Next time perhaps do not drink the first thing that you see." "Why do I feel all calm and content, like I just got laid?" Lily grinned nervously and hid in the shadows, "Oh...no reason. Just that the potion you drank was a rather potent aphrodisiac potion that gave you a libido the size of a virgin God Zilla. Ever wonder why that guy was so angry?" Delilah suddenly looked very concerned. "Oh lord. Did we...?" "Er... yes. But only to break the spell!" "But I'm dating Quam...!" "I'll take full responsibility for this...I'm really sorry..." "I'm not that kind of girl!" Tara smirked, "I dunno, from what Lily's told me you're all sorts of kinds of girls. All of 'em pretty damn flexible." Lily frowned, "What do you mean 'that kind of a girl'? The kind of girl that does it with another girl, or the kind of girl that does it with a non-human? Or both? Are you specie and homophobic?" "What? No! I'm not the kind of girl who runs around on her partner! Aren't you dating someone anyway?" Lily looked away, "It's complicated." she muttered. "That's no excuse! Grow a pair and work things out, don't just go fuck the next shitfaced thing that walks through your door and drinks one of your sexy potions!" Lily sniffled, "She doesn't love me like I love her. It's a one-sided relationship." Delilah took Lily's hand and patted it gently, "I'm sure it's not like that. Sure there are probably things Geena could do to help make the relationship work, but a relationship is a two-way street. She comes from a troubled past of abusive relationships, both platonic and otherwise. Maybe you were not providing the kind of support and affection she needed. Just ask her how she wants to be treated, and then maybe you can..." Tara rolled her eyes, "Alright Dr. Phil, save it for the shrink. We're not talking about the emotionally challenged adventures of Drama-llama and Doctor Porno-potion, we're talking about what you and your 'coworkers' have done to my baby...what exactly have you done to my baby?!" Xara rolled her eyes and sighed in exasperation, 'face-palming' as Tara spoke. She was just going to let this play out for a little while, and try her best not to lose her temper. She was still a bit sated from her night with Dylan, and was a little annoyed that a tragedy had to get in the way of that beautiful night. Delilah sighed and stood. "Well...I'm not entirely sure. My job was to gain your trust and spy on you...create character profiles and the like. For example, Xara is a strong woman with a proud history whose spirit has been crushed, leaving her with a painful insecurity about her self-worth and her physical and emotional attractiveness, which makes her feel petty and weak and has driven her to a lifetime of eternal compensation for the things she believes she is missing and can never truly achieve." Xara frowned furiously, "Hey! That's... not entirely true." she lowered herself in her seat and curled her tail around her leg self-consciously. Delilah turned to Tara, "...Tara suffers from abandonment and trust issues...oh and anger management problems." Tara snarled, "Yeah I'll tell you where you can shove your psycho-analytical conclusions, you cheating potion-slut...!"
"Hadrian is a good-boy in bad-boy clothing... I could go on for ages about Edison, good god, that man is fucked up...Sage is in denial... Azure has 'Mother-Hen' syndrom--"
"SHUT UP!" The entire room seemed to roar. Delilah shut her mouth sheepishly. "Yeah... I suppose that isn't helping. Look the point is that I know very little about the actual experimentation. I do know that Erik Chan, your father." "No shit." Tara snarled. "...has been the subject of one of Citole's longest running experiments in which she suppresses the defective--er, I mean mutated-- gene in the human DNA strand that gives shape-shifters their unusual powers." "Preposterous! Shape-shifters are faeries, like witches and elves and sprites." Lily countered, "They are not homo-sapiens, they are something completely different." "You would think, but the genetic similarities are striking. There are--apparently according to Citole's studies-- no other pertinent differences in the shape-shifter and human geno. They are almost identical, aside from that one mutated gene." "So...?" Tara's fists were clenched so tightly her nails had dug into her palms. Her fangs were growing dangerously long. Delilah swallowed dryly, "S-so... ahem, Citole has been feeding Mr. Chan a series of, er, medications over the past decade to suppress his shape-shifting abilities and make him essentially human, a process the facility refers to as 'purification'. I suspect the samples she has been taking from young Carmen may have something to do with that study. Also the fact the child was naturally born to a lesbian vampire couple, using their DNA. That probably also has a lot to do with it. Actually it has the whole scientific community scratching their heads to be honest with you... Dr. Hope is somewhat infamous now."
Tara erupted and lashed out to snatch Delilah by the throat, making her gasp for air. "YOU BASTARDS! So Erik IS my father... and Citole IS trying to hurt my baby! I swear to every GOD and OMNIPOTENT RULER out there that if one goddamn chemical made it into Carmen's body I'm going to kill you, your coworkers, and anyone who gets in my way!" Delilah gagged, "See what I mean... about the anger management?" Tara growled and tightened her grip on Delilah's throat until Xara intervened. "Drop her! Tara...drop her!" Tara glared at Delilah, but dropped her begrudgingly. Xara placed her hands on her hips. "Now sit down. Sit!" Tara sat. "Good. Delilah, did she hurt you?" "Well..." "Let me rephrase-- are you mortally wounded?" Delilah rubbed her throat, "I don't think so..." "Good. In my opinion, you deserved it. But you are ratting out your coworkers for us, so I'm going to give you a little leeway here. Dylan, voethe," Xara turned to Dylan, "is there any way we can attach something to Delilah to make sure she is telling us the truth and isn't just trying to gain more of our trust?"
Delilah's brows shot up. Huh, she thought, impressed. This woman isn't the knuckle-dragging barbarian we all thought she was. She's actually pretty smart...and pretty! And everyone seems to love her. She's just a mother trying to take care of her family... Delilah knew she was doing the right thing. She raised her palms defensively. "I'll do whatever you want to prove I'm not lying."
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Rasha ran/walked with Candy to the club. It wasn't far away from his house, about an hour walk. They entered just as Delilah said she would prove she was not lying. Rasha frowned. "What's going on here?" Lily approached them, "Well... found out Citole's been testing on Carmen and Erik, Tara's father. Tara's pissed. Xara's pissed. Azure's...strangely calm." Rasha snarled, "Testing on a baby?" "Yup." "Vile creatures."
((Sorry Rasha's part is so short >.> ))

Hadrian continued to sit with arms crossed, one leg crossed over the other as he peered at the others. As Delilah spoke, he arched a brow. Should she even be given a right to speak at this time? He was surprised neither Xara, Tara or Azure hadn't told her otherwise. As he had spoke, though he was addressing the room as a whole, he had not expected an answer from her. He bit his tongue, figuratively speaking.
Assurance not being assuring... yes, well, she was right there.
He sat quietly for the moment, watching as the women of the group began to bicker amongst themselves. Or rather, Tara with Lily. It started off as a jibe about the potion which Delilah had apparently helped herself to, to being "not that kind of girl", where it escalated from there. And wasn't Delilah dating Quam? Or they had something going on. Hadrian's attention zoned out from there. Weren't they here for a different reason? And honestly, he was surprised Tara was not tearing the woman a new asshole.
Then they really began to talk about the important matters. Or at least tried to. For now, the Drama-llama shut her mouth, and remained silent, allowing Delilah, the "Doctor Porno-potion" to give some further detail into what she and Citole... and whoever else who had been involved, had done to Carmen.
Glancing at Xara, it was clear to see that she was just as annoyed as he was. The evidence was her head burried into her fingers in exasperation while Tara demanded to know what happened to her daughter.
Hadrian scrutinized Delilah with his gaze, using all of his intuition to try and decide if what Delilah was saying held truth, or lies. So far he was believing the character profiles bit, at least the part concerning she and Citole creating these profiles.
Xara he agreed with, being a strong woman, with a painful history, and of insecurity. Xara herself had seemed likely to object, but to his amusement, she did relent.
Unfortunately he agreed with the part about Tara suffering from abandonment and trust issues, and anger management issues too.
Hadr - wait! His eyes widened, one brow arching as Delilah decided to give her own opinion of him too... "a good-boy in bad-boy clothing... Yeah... okay, so that was true too. Not that he wanted anyone outside of their circle of family and friends to know this though. It was a reputation he actually didn't really mind having. But what about the stuff she'd probably collected that wasn't true?
Everyone could go on and on about Edison. The comment about Sage made Hadrian narrow his eyes. Say what you want about him, but anything about Sage, or Sirius for that matter you will recieve a verbal lashing.
"SHUT UP!" Hadrian blurted, and looked around him as a chorus of voices had joined his own in unison. He was silent after that, a little weirded out at the fact they had been so insync.
Delilah spoke of Erik then, whom Hadrian had begun to feel a fondness of as of late. They got along fairly well, at least. Quam was a great friend - a brother - but Hadrian did not feel he could have a mature discussion with him in length. Hadrian and Edison's friendship had always been rocky. As of late, they'd been getting along better then ever, which basically meant they were civil. They were even able to hold a decent conversation for a short while before one got annoyed at the other and the bickering started up all over again.
Despite the fact what Delilah and Citle were collecting from the others was terrible, Hadrian could not help but feel privately a little intrigued by what Delilah had collected in terms of research into the shapeshifting genes.
In terms of the research which Citole had been carrying out, she may say that it was a "breakthrough" in science, and who knew how long it had been in development?
Hadrian noticed Azure standing close to Tara, a hand instinctively pressed against her fiances in a silent effort to offer some form of comfort... or restraint. Perhaps both.
"What other forms of "purifications" - " Hadrian used air quotes as he asked the question, " - have you and the other scientists created?" He also noticed that Dylan looked mildly embarrassed by the hint of a praise from Delilah as she explained that his work with Tara and Azure had made him somewhat infamous. It was true, with Dylan's brains came good money. Xara had done well for herself, Hadrian had to admit.
Hadrian's question landed on deaf ears, however, as suddenly Tara shot up, despite Azure's attempt to stop her, and grabbed the scientist by the neck, pressing her palm against her wind pipe. The woman did actually impress Hadrian on some level that she was able to make yet another comment on Tara's lack of anger management.
Xara was the only one who decided to step in and try and convince Tara to allow the woman to breathe. Dylan was addressed shortly after. As the devoted boyfriend, or mate, he was, his eyes locked with hers and he looked at nothing else as she spoke to him. If his love for her wasn't obvious, Hadrian did not know what was.
He seemed to ponder her query for a moment, before a solution appeared to materialize inside of his mind. "Oh. Well uh... if we were to be cruel..." Dylan was even suggesting such a thing? "I've heard of times where substances such as sodium pentathol or amyl nitrate has been used to pry the truth from a person. Fortunate for Delilah," the doc glanced at her "we have none. And uh, I'm not so compelled to do so anyway."
"Speak for your own self," Candy muttered, eyes narrowed. Hadrian noted that it was the first thing he had heard her say since she arrived. Then again, he had not been paying much attention to her at all. She stood beside Rasha... so close that their arms were touching. So that had finally happened now too. Hadrian arched a brow slightly, and offered Candy a small smile. Immediately, Candy blushed, and glanced away. Obviously knowing she had been caught in such close proximity with Xara's cousin. As if to confirm it, she grabbed Rasha's hand.
There were a few ways that Hadrian knew of to spot a liar. Trickery was a good option, such as convince the person you already know the truth, and just want them to conspire with you about what you seem to know.
Another was make the person you are trying to get the truth out of think that the truth is no big deal, or you do not care what the truth is, and they may blurt it out from frustration, to try and impress you, or to brag about it.
Look for evidence that pertains to what the truth you are looking for is. Encourage the person to look you in the eye when they discuss the subject you are trying to get the truth about.
Accuse the person of doing something worse so that their only evidence that this accusation is false is the truth you're trying to get them to admit. Hadrian had used this once on a guy who owed him some money, but would not give it back to him. After asking for the money in person a few times, he then decided to txt him. Only this time, he asked for an amount higher then what he was really owed. He asked for $1800 In response, the guy who owed him the money replied with 'no! IOU $1000!' And there it was. Cold hard proof in written (or txt) form the amount he owed him so he could not deny it. Too easy.
Another method was to pretend you hear them talking in their sleep, if it is a member of your close family who might think you have an opportunity to listen to what they may say while they are sleeping. Of course this was for people who you knew well, obviously.
Threatening was a method which worked seldom.
Stay calm was a big one too.
"It seems we will need to give her the benefit of the doubt, and a short leash." Dylan finished.
"That's not good enough though," Candy spoke up. "Why can't we try that sodium or nitrate amyl nitrate... stuff? Azure," the other vampiress turned to face the blue-haired girl. "Carmen is your daughter." point out the freakin' obvious Blue. "Wouldn't you want to?"Azure frowned, and looked at Delilah with a set expression. "We'd be just as bad as her types of people if we did that. So no, I don't agreed that it's right to force the truth from her. We should keep her here.""Umm, Azure," Hadrian crinkled his nose, looking at her with a puzzled expression. "This is a safe-house. I thought you girls built this place so we could hide from the enemy, not invite one to stay." [glow=red,2,300] + + + + + + + + + + + + + +

Xara gave Hadrian a dead look and linked to him, and everyone else in the room aside from Delilah 'As far as I am concerned Delilah is no longer the enemy, though she does not need to know that. Hostility meerly breeds hostility, and if we want any more information from her we need to create an environment where she feels safe and protected, one that she wants to maintain. She already knows where this place is. If we keep her here we can keep an eye on her, and keep her alive in the same breath so that any information she has we have a hope of obtaining. What we need to do now, once we have Delilah safely contained, is to figure out a way to deal with Citole. Our goal, first and foremost, is to protect the safety of our children. My hope is that Delilah will act as a double agent for us, and give us much needed information about the inner workings of this plan she speaks of.'
Tara sent a small shiver of approval through their link. 'I know I will do anything to protect Carmen and I know you would as if she were your own, as I would protect your children as if they were my own. But Citole has wronged my family for three generations. I will not show her the same kindness I show Delilah today. I do not sense anything foul about Delilah, but in Citole I now see the evil you all tried to warn me about and I realize I also sensed it, but was blinded by my love for my father.' Deep, gnawing regret flooded her link and Tara did nothing to stop it from coming.
'We do not hold it against you, Tara, we understand. Most of us do not have parents. I know I would be over the human moon if my parents appeared. Also most of our suspicions were simply vague hunches, and you were the first of us willing to give anyone the benefit of the doubt." Xara countered.
'At the expense of the safety of my child.' Tara replied bitterly. 'It will not happen again.'
Xara was quiet for a moment, measuring Tara's emotions until they became "paler" in hue (as Xara often saw emotions as colors and hues). 'I understand. But I ask you to trust me when I say I believe that Delilah will be more an asset than anything for us in this time. I sense her earnest when she speaks to us; I do not sense any deceit in her words. I have been linked to her throughout this conversation-- she has yet to say anything that is not true. That aside, she is a creature looking for our help and sanctuary. If we betray the trust she places in us then she, and our cause, will be lost to us forever. People will see us as cruel, vengeful beings no better than the scientist scum we claim to be fighting against. I do not suggest we accept her with open arms and expose our throats, but simply that we offer her the protection and safety she--and by the gods, every living creature-- deserves. Many of us know firsthand what the facility is capable of doing,' she looked to Candy, then a lingering glance at Azure, 'We would not wish it on even our worst enemies.'
Tara could not help but agree, and also feel a little impressed and shocked at Xara's speech. It seemed so un-Xara-like... wiser and more diplomatic than Tara was used to the woman being. She spoke of tolerance and equal rights to safety and good health. Was Xara learning what it was to be human, not in a biological sense, but in the foundations of compassion that man had tried to uphold and in many cases failed, except for in small acts of kindness by small groups of individuals. For the people they helped, the act was in no way small. But why were people able to do harm in such large quantities but doing good seemed to only happen to individuals at a time? It had puzzled many for years. It was easier to do harm than good. Perhaps that was the reason?
Tara nodded finally, 'I agree. I wouldn't wish it on anyone either.' she took Azure's hand and squeezed it, 'I...regret trying to choke her.'
'No it is alright, we all wanted to.' Xara grinned. She dropped the grin quickly, then said out loud. "Delilah," Delilah looked up, "How do you know, when you return to work with your colleagues or however it is you do this, that you will not put us in danger?"
"You...don't." Delilah answered quietly, "I know what I am going to do, and if I didn't want to help you I would never have said anything to you about our plans. It is dangerous, and I am likely to be killed if word reaches them. If you so choose, you can send someone to watch over me. Or... perhaps I can wear a device that records what I do so you can see. If you send someone to watch over me it would need to be someone plausible... for example, Miss Candace-- now hear me out," she said in an attempt to stop Xara's objection, "Miss Candace is young and graduating high-school. She will likely be looking into possible career paths. The facility rebuilt her after her accident. She may theoretically have developed an interest in the sciences, to help people of course. Many who join the facility do so to help people in the beginning, myself for example." she sighed sadly, "In any case, she could ask to become someone's apprentice. She could even leak some "information" about your organization. It would be fake and misleading information, but they wouldn't know. If Candace becomes Citole's apprentice, which would be very easy to rig, perhaps you would have two spies. You could even descreetly alter one of her bionic eyes to be a camera! She would become your ultimate spy." Delilah paused, "That is just one example of course." There was a long pause.
Xara frowned deeply, "No, absolutely not. It is much too dangerous: I do not approve. I will not willingly put one of my children in harms way like that. Sending her into the facility is inviting pain and anguish. I forbid it."

Hadrian shrugged, mouthing the word 'what?' at Xara as his friend gave him a flat expression. He was only voicing his own opinions. Wincing, he reluctantly welcomed the mild ache in his forhead which was always acompanied by Xara's link, understanding that whatever she wanted to say, it must be of great importance for her to want to link. Only this time, he felt more than one mind connect with his own... Azure, Tara, Rasha, Dylan, Candy, everyone. Everyone except for Delilah, though that was no surprise.
Sitting up properly in his chair, Hadrian leant forwards so that he could rest his elbows on the table, and fold his hands under his chin, ignoring any questioning glances Delilah may have been making towards them, to see everyone in the room communicating, but not in the way she would be used to. If she didn't know about the linking - which he assumed she probably did seeing as she had been studying them - Hadrian was sure she would think this was a strange act indeed.
Hostility sure did breed hostility, but some people deal with that better then others. Hadrian was not so good at the behaving civil, especially if such a heavy wrong had been done to himself, or those he felt close to, i.e everyone here, as well as those who weren't, with the exception of Delilah of course. She and Citole had been the ones doing the wrong.
'I can agree with wanting to keep things civil between us and her, he relented, speaking via the link. 'But what if she fools us?'
'She wont,' Hadrian arched a brow at Azure, who looked directly at him. 'She knows what we are, and what we're capable of. Tara gave a great example of that a few moment's ago.' She looked at her fiance with an expression of amusement, and pride. 'We're all strong. Some of us more in physical strength, and some more in mental strength. Xara, Tara and I... even you Rasha, we have our physical strength. Dylan, the doctor looked surprised he was being spoken to, even while he was also technically involved in the silent discussion. 'You've got your intelligence. If we're true enough to our word and keep Delilah safe, she'll owe us. Besides, as I said, she knows what we can do if she decides to fool us.'
''So we bribe and blackmail her?' Hadrian asked, a slight tone of approval laced the tone of his voice. ''We will be leaving a hell of allot of responsibility on her shoulders too. Do you really recon she can handle lying about lying to her employees, and Citole for that matter?'
'She'll have to.' Dylan piped up. Both he and Hadrian turned to face Tara as she felt a shiver of approval through the link, saying how she would do anything to protect Carmen. Of course they all knew this. Each of them wanted their children safe, and alive. But if Delilah actually did have any good in her, why work for the facility. This was something Hadrian wished to ask her himself.
Hadrian looked at Tara, blinking as his heart did go out to her. Yes, her family had been targeted. Erik had been placed on an experimental treatment to suppress his shapeshifting, and Carmen had DNA samples taken from her, to determine whatever it was the scientists were after. It was not as though Tara had many family left alive. Of course he knew of her mother. Erik and Carmen... and Azure were all she had. As Xara said, most of them did not have parents. If not at all, then not here.
''So we're heading for a 'benefit of the doubt ' thing here then.' Azure pursed her lips together, shrugging and nodded her head. Giving Xara the benefit of the doubt too, it seems. If she was so certain that Delilah was not the bad-guy as they each originally thought, then perhaps they should play along.
For the longest time, the paranormals had aimed for a world where they would be accepted, and live without fear of being beaten, or experimented on. Azure , Xara and Candy probably knew it better then anyone. Even he had almost been dissected, and by Quam himself as he was tricked into working for the Miami facilties surgeons. Only something like that could happen to the unicorn.
"Delilah," Xara vocalized outloud. The woman poked her head up, and looked at the red-head intently. "How do you know, when you return to work with your colleagues or however it is you do this, that you will not put us in danger?"
They didn't. So they did need ideas. Which would be most effective in the long run though? Listening, Hadrian did not speak up as Delilah listed a few ideas. Intrigued by her suggestion that Candy help, Hadrian felt impressed. To think, using the facilities own "creation" against them. Genius, actually. Although Xara dissaproved, Hadrian did not mind the idea so much.
He looked at Candy, who looked surprised - even a little disconcerted - by the sudden attention. Hadrian did not know what Citole specialized in, apart from medicine, so was uncertain whether or not Candy would qualify in becoming someones apprentice, especially Citole's. But perhaps the woman would see it from a beneficial point of view. Thinking she could benefit in having one of them in such close proximity. It would also help maintain the faux impression that they still trusted the woman.
Could Candy handle putting up such a cherade? Especially for an extended time, and if things got rough, or if they feared their

"But I wanna do it," Candy piped up, "if I can help in any way. And if that's how I can contribute, then that's what I'll do."
"Candy - " Dylan began to object, but Candy shook her head.
"No. Please? Dylan, you could alter my eye and make a camera out of it, right? I'd be recording absolutely everything going on, and you could like, be streaming it live through one of the laptops. We'd have cold hard evidence of whatever she tells me."
"It's not a bad idea, Xara." Hadrian agreed, wary of any scornful gazes he may earn from his comment. "I can't think of a better thing. The government rebuilt her, and now we have the oppertunity to use her against them."
Candy offered him a grateful smile glance, to which Hadrian responded with a short smile and a nod. She then turned to Xara, and offered her a timorous look. "Xara, you've done so much for me, it's the least I can try and do for our family. And it is a family... "[glow=red,2,300] + + + + + + + + + + + + + +
